The story is told of a woman with Cerebral Palsy who enters into her first marriage with an able-bodied man because she believes that such a marriage will fulfil her and compensate for her disability. Shortly thereafter, the woman finds herself in a loveless marriage where she finds that she has very little in common with her husband i.e. the lack of compatibility with her husband. Furthermore, the strain of taking care of a young child while suffering from a disability puts a strain on their marriage. Eventually, parties file for divorce.
You may not be suffering from a disability, but the woman’s story may strike a chord with you. So what happens after a divorce? Is there a possibility that you can find life and love after a divorce?
The woman’s story has a happy ending. Post-divorce, the woman meets another man who also suffers from a disability. Nonetheless, they are a great match and very compatible for each other. Amongst other things, they share a love for the same books and music, and they possess the same personality traits i.e. a strong sense of independence. In short, the woman, whose first marriage ended in divorce, now finds the love of her life in remarriage.
Another story is told of a famous writer, JK Rowling who finds herself divorced with a young child after a relatively short marriage. Finding herself at the “rock-bottom” of her life, she has nothing but a dream and a vocation i.e. to write good stories. Eventually, this becomes the impetus for her series of internationally known “Harry Potter” series of books and movies. In her book “Very Good Lives”, she writes that “I was set free, because my greatest fear had been realized, and I was still alive and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.”
These 2 women’s stories are real life accounts of how divorce is not the end, and that there is life and love after divorce.
